A Winter Wedding at The Abbey House Hotel, Barrow in Furness, Cumbria.

As a bridal makeup artist, I'm privileged to witness some of life's most magical moments. But Laura and Shanes wedding at the Abbey House Hotel in Barrow and Furness truly took the cake (or should I say, the mince pie?). It was a winter wonderland extravaganza, and I had the incredible opportunity to create the makeup looks for this magical day.

The Abbey House Hotel itself was transformed into a festive dream. Colossal Christmas trees, adorned with thousands of twinkling fairy lights, cast a magical glow over the entrance and gardens of the hotel, transforming it into a winter wonderland.

Laura's vision for her makeup was soft and romantic, with a focus on the eyes. I used a Nars long lasting matte foundation on Laura and added a hint of rosy blush to mimic the flush of winter cheeks. For her eyes, I created a smoky, yet subtle, look with shades of browns and champagne. A touch of brown liner, mascara and natural lashes completed the eye look.

For the bridesmaids, I wanted to create individual looks that complemented Laura's without being identical. I played with different shades of pinks, browns, and beiges, and added subtle variations in the eye makeup to suit each bridesmaid's personality. Some bridesmaids opted for natural lashes and others wanted full glam lashes. The result was a cohesive yet diverse group, radiating beauty and confidence.

As Laura and Shane's wedding day progressed, the atmosphere at the Abbey House Hotel became even more magical. The ceremony was held in a candlelit room overlooking the beautiful gardens, and the reception was a whirlwind of laughter, dancing, and festive cheer. Throughout it all, Laura and her bridesmaids looked stunning. Their makeup stayed flawless, even through tears of joy and energetic dance moves.

Working at Laura's wedding was an absolute joy. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and the kind of wintery magic that only the Lake District can provide. I'm so grateful to have been a part of it, and I'll never forget the way Laura and her bridesmaids looked – radiant, beautiful, and ready to embark on their happily ever after.

Capturing the magic of the day with breath taking detail was James Merrick Photography. The photos capture the day's beauty and emotion in every click.

I hope you have enjoyed this glimpse into Laura and Shane's stunning winter wedding at The Abbey House Hotel. If you're planning your own winter wedding, I hope this post has inspired you to create a look that's both beautiful and festive. And remember, no matter what the season, the most important thing is to feel confident and radiant on your wedding day.
